Artificial Life

Artificial Life: "Artificial Life or A-Life is one of my greatest fascinations. In fact I started programming to simulate the start of life on a BBC computer. It never got too far, the BBC computer being a thousand times too slow for what I wanted. But I learned to program better and of course computers became more than a thousand times as fast."

The Hand of God...

I heard last night from one of my dear friends who operates a ministry for the homeless especially those who have had problems with alcohol and drugs. He and his wife and family have forsaken all their worldly goods to give aid to others who are "down and out" and someone who cares.

Bob told they had had a busy weekend hosting company and holding services at the mission and were returning home on Monday pretty worn out and tired. They stopped by Walmart to purchase a few necessities for their home and the mission when they saw an interesting sight. The big black Expedition next to them had some sort of fancy DVD screen and player mounted where they could see it. So Laura, Bob's wife, asked the lady as she got out of the vehicle if the device had been purchased separately or with the SUV. She said it was an option when she bought the vehicle. They thanked her for the information and went into the store. As they were leaving she ran to catch them before they left and told Bob that she felt compelled to tell them that God had told her to encourage them. She proceeded to tell them not to quit and to keep up their ministry. Lately Bob and Laura had been on their knees every day wondering how they could continue since many of their resources had been depleted in the past years to keep the mission open. The lady continued to express her belief that God had spoken to her and that they should be encouraged. They parted company and Bob and Laura drove down the Interstate to a rest stop and paused for about an hour to relax before continuing home. They prayed together and talked over God's plans for their future.

The next day upon arriving at the mission, Bob proceeded to open the mail which usually included bills, dozens of pieces of junk mail, letters, solicitations, and a few donations from those who supported the ministry regularly. After opening several letters and bills, he came to a plain envelope and opened it like the rest. Inside he discovered a check to the ministry for $50,000 and nearly passed out. He had never received such a large donation before. The only words enclosed were to consider the money as coming directly from the Lord. It was to be anonymous.

How incredible can a true story be. In all the years that I have been associated with many ministries I have never heard of such a gift. The Savior's birth and death on the cross have to be the biggest gift we will ever receive. Being assured of an eternal heavenly home has been the most incredible thing I have evcer received. But I know for Bob and Laura this ranks right up there with God's greatest gift since it encourages them and allows them to continue to minister to these people who most people have given up on.

Congratulations Bob and Laura....another miracle from God who cares for you.

If Only....

If only I had realized sooner how much God loves me and everyone else I would have been more tuned to things that matter and less likely to have my purpose driven by the worlds ideals and philosophy. But thank God He cared for me and I finally woke up to see the light. Thank you Lord.

Oh how wonderful and lovely to be His. To wake each day to the sweet knowledge that He cares for me without ANY conditions. What a powerful motivation to want to please Him in the things I do and say! But as usual I am drawn away to other things. Things that don't really deserve the time spent on them. Time spent thinking of worthless materialistic goals, wants and desires. Being drawn away by these things almost without thinking as if i am not in control, snaps me back to the fact that none of them are worth the precious time spent on their like. Only those things which are eternal have a value worth investing time in.

Thank You for the wake up call! I will do my best with Your help to keep all things in their proper prespective.
